Transpose Audio On Input option added under MIDI/Audio > Device Setup to help aid QWERTY and mouse entry for transposed instruments. Use the Graphics tool's Export dialog box to save images with transparent backgrounds. The Drum Corps and Marching Band Letter templates have been updated. New Marching Band Tabloid and Studio Orchestra templates have been added.
These options allow you to add rounded corners for enclosures that surround expressions, text repeats, text created with the Text tool, and measure numbers. The Round Corners checkbox and Corner Radius field have been added to the Enclosure Designer dialog box and the Standard Frame dialog box. Finale can now be used in conjunction with digital audio workstations via ReWire. MusicXML Preferences have been added to File > Import and File > Export. A Measure Number Bar is now displayed at the top of the screen when in Scroll and Studio View. Large time signatures can be created easily with the new Time Signatures in Score and Time Signatures in Parts options in the Staff Attributes, Global Staff Attributes, and Staff Styles dialog boxes. As Ron has said, the only Garritan library (MakeMusic product, sold by the same company that makes Finale) that contains a col legno sample is the Instant Orchestra library. If you require that sound then you will have to buy a library that contains that sound specifically. When unchecked, canceling naturals are not displayed when moving between sharp and flat keys such as Bb to G or F to D. None of the libraries that come with Finale include a col legno sound. The When Switching Between Sharps and Flats checkbox has been added to the Document Options - Key Signatures dialog box. The time between pressing Play and hearing Finale's playback has been improved.

New additions include the Concert D Grand Piano from Garritan Personal Orchestra 5, recorders, dulcimer, didgeridoo, full choir, and many other sounds from the Garritan World Instruments and Instant Orchestra libraries. The opening width of short and long crescendo/decrescendo markings are now independent of each other and can be set in the Smart Shape Options dialog box. The previous Dashed Slur Smart Shape has been renamed to Dashed Curve and is still available in the Smart Shape Palette and under Tools > Smart Shape > Dashed Curve. Contoured dashed slurs are now available in the Smart Shape Palette and under Tools > Smart Shape > Dashed Slur.
Non-extended keyboard users can now access the clear key functionality by using FUNCTION+SHIFT+DELETE.
